One of the biggest expectations that Bethesda fans had at E3 2021 was related to the possible reveal of Wolfenstein 3. Although the publisher said back in 2018 that the third part of the shooter would definitely happen someday, the past Xbox presentation left fans without an announcement.

In a recent interview with Pete Hines, GameSpot asked Bethesda's head of marketing a specific question about MachineGames and whether the studio is still working on the Wolfenstein franchise.

Hines responded that right now MachineGames is in the early stages of developing the Indiana Jones game that was announced in January. However, he also hinted that the studio might be doing something else, possibly related to Wolfenstein.

"As far as Wolfenstein or any other franchise in general that we haven't announced plans yet, we'll have to wait until we get to the point where we want to talk about it," Hines explained.

While Hines hasn't confirmed that a third Wolfenstein game is in the works, he said he's as big of a fan of the franchise as many others and would love to see the series come back.

"You can put me at the top of the list of people who want to see another Wolfenstein, so don't worry," Hines said.

The latest game in the Wolfenstein series to date is the spin-off Wolfenstein: Youngblood, released in conjunction with Arkane Studios in 2019.
